Gammalgrass
Stian Carstensen, Ola Kvernberg and Ole Morten Vågan - the very definition of a super trio
During the first Bærum Jazz Festival in 2022, Gammalgrass delivered a pure demonstration of power in a concert on the foyer stage in Bærum Kulturhus. They'll be back in 2024 - this time on a bigger stage in the Great Hall. At the intersection of bluegrass, folk music, classical music, jazz and large doses of humour and joie de vivre, you'll find Gammalgrass - a super trio of rare calibre.
With a seductive cocktail of rhythm, tone and contempt for death, Stian Carstensen, Ola Kvernberg and Ole Morten Vågan let go of all musical inhibitions in pursuit of a unique concert experience. A cocktail of bluegrass interspersed with old-time dance and classical music with a twist of bizarre humour. The very definition of a musical cornucopia. The trio has played all over Norway, as well as touring Germany and Europe, and is known for its exorbitant musicianship at a high level, where the tempo is sometimes as fast as the style changes.
The musicians Stian Carstensen (accordion, violin, guitar, banjo, flutes), Ola Kvernberg (violin, bass, piano) and Ole Morten Vågan (bass) are each top-class performers. Together they make up an exuberant ensemble, which, with humour and energy, takes us on a journey through a hitherto little-explored musical landscape - where most time signatures and genres are subjected to more or less irreverent interpretations.
