JAZM
A unique encounter between jazz music and dance
Jazm is a unique encounter between jazz music and dance, two different art forms that originally started their journey together and are now united through Frøy Aagre's music. It is surprising, powerful and aesthetically beautiful, both musically and visually.
Aagre is constantly breaking new ground, and Jazm explores the meeting between dancers and musicians through improvisation, composition and choreography. Through a seamless interaction, they play with categorisations that allow the dance to exist in an auditory dimension and the music in a visual one.
Saxophonist Frøy Aagre has thrilled audiences all over the world with her unmistakable tone and ability to combine the beautiful and immediate with the surprising and complex.
In Jazm, she is joined by dancer Victor A. O. Pedersen, double bassist Audun Ellingsen and percussionist Andreas Bratlie. The members of the quartet are recognised practitioners in their own right and have performed with Kenny Wheeler, Bobo Stensson, Andy Sheppard, Tari Khan, Tomasz Stanko, Harpreet Bansal, Terri Lyne Carrington and Tabanka Dance Ensemble.
