Take 6
World-class a cappella during the closing concert of the Bærum Jazz Festival 2024.
There will be a jazz festival in Bærum in 2024 as well. The first band on the festival lineup is one of the world's leading a cappella groups: Take 6. The Alabama sextet has the honor of concluding the 2024 festival with a spectacular final concert on Sunday, November 3.
Crystal-clear vocal harmonies, synchronized sense of rhythm, and perfect phrasing after more than four decades on stage together. The six men from Alabama have absolute control over rhythm and tone as they elegantly juggle jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop, and gospel like no one else can. A cappella.
New Tunes
After more than 44 years in the game, Take 6 is still busy and in demand. Later this year, they will release a new studio album and a new live show. This time, the sextet tackles timeless songs that have broken free from their original jazz roots and become universally known. Think of compositions like "Rhapsody In Blue" or "Come Sunday," and you'll get a preview of how Claude McKnight, Mark Kibble, Joel Kibble, Dave Thomas, Alvin Chea, and Khristian Dentley will sound in the Great Hall in November.
Since 1980, the a cappella sextet has received ten Grammy Awards, gone gold three times, platinum once, and won ten Gospel Music Awards.
The list of artists Take 6 has collaborated with tells a story of how sought-after the sextet is: Ray Charles, Nnenna Freelon, Gordon Goodwin, Don Henley, Whitney Houston, Al Jarreau, Quincy Jones, k.d. lang, Queen Latifah, The Manhattan Transfer, Johnny Mathis, Brian McKnight, Luis Miguel, Marcus Miller, Joe Sample, Ben Tankard, Randy Travis, CeCe Winans, Stevie Wonder, and Jacob Collier have all shared the stage or studio with Take 6.
Six voices, six strong identities, six compelling reasons to be present in the Store Sal at Bærum Kulturhus on November 3, 2024.
